TIPE
Micrometer terdapat dua tipe yaitu Inside Micrometer dan Outside Micrometer. Inseide Micrometer digunakan untuk mengukur dimensi dalam suatu benda seperti celah atau diameter lubang. Sedangkan Outside Micrometer digunakan untuk mengukur dimensi luar suatu benda, seperti tebal atau diameter luar poros. Alat ukur ini sering digunakan pada bidang-bidang teknik seperti mesin (bubut) dan otomotif (untuk keperluan overhaul).
SATUAN
Terdapat dua tipe Micrometer berdasarkan satuan yang digunakan yaitu Micrometer dengan satuan Inchi dan Micrometer dengan satuan Milimeter.
KETELITIAN
Secara umum Micrometer mempunyai ketelitian 0,01 mm. Namun ada juga yang mempunyai ketelitian hingga 0,001 mm.

PRINCIPLE OF MEASUREMENT
Measurements in the field of engineering, especially in the automotive world has a significant role, especially for the purposes of inspection and overhaul or replacement of parts of a moving vehicle. Measurements were taken, of course, is to find size. Important points in the measurement is to obtain the difference in size as a standard. Keep in mind that parts of vehicles, especially moving, each having a standard size and the allowed limit is made by the manufacturer. Because of the use, of course these parts will have wear and tear or damage, and affect the performance of vehicles that needed repair or replacement of these components.
